In case you didn’t know already, today marks a very special day in the film world as it’s the 10th Anniversary of one of the most quotable cult classic films of all time, Mean Girls.
The teen comedy was released on April 30th 2004 and has grossed $121 million worldwide to date. After Tina Fey’s brilliant writing tackling ‘Girl World’ politics, the film became a huge success, so much so there is a musical version of the film in development. Fey told The New York Times; “We’ve been enjoying trying to write… I wish so badly we could have had it done in some form for the 10th anniversary, but hopefully before the 15th.”
Mean Girls was based on Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman and adapted into the film by Mark Waters. So as a way of celebrating the film’s decade of success we’re going to reminisce in the form of quotes.
Does anyone even remember this being slang in England?!
“Don’t have sex in the missionary position, don’t have sex standing up, just don’t do it, OK, promise? OK, now everybody take some rubbers.”
Particularly relevant today, I hope you all wore pink!
I really could go on but I would end up putting the entire script here in gif form, so maybe it’s best if I leave and watch Mean Girls now.
