Amanda Seyfried Joins Warner Bros. ‘Pan’

Amanda Seyfried is the latest actress to join Joe Wright’s live action Peter Pan film.

The film, titled Pan, will star Amanda Seyfried as Mary, and will re-unite her with her Les Miserables co-star Hugh Jackman, set to play Blackbeard.

Whilst we are unsure who the character of Mary is at this stage, Seyfried could be playing Mary Darling, mother of Wendy, John and Michael.

Pan will be directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Anna Karenina) and the screenplay has been written by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift). Filming has begun this week at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden.

Other cast members announced include Garrett Hedlund as Captain James Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and Adeel Akhtar as Mr. Smee.

Newcomer Levi Miller will play Peter Pan, and Leni Zieglmeier will play Wendy Darling.

Based on the characters created by J.M. Barrie, the story of Peter Pan follows a boy who travels to the magical world of Neverland, where he and his band of lost boys find adventure and have to fight off Captain Hook and his pirates.

The most famous version of Peter Pan is Disney’s animated 1953 version, whilst Pan is set to show Peter Pan and Captain Hook before they become deadly enemies.

With Warner Bros. overseeing the production, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Paul Webster are producing, and Tim Lewis is serving as executive producer.

The film has a worldwide release date of July 17th 2015.
