Sony Pictures have released the brand new trailer and TV spot for The Armstrong Lie, which can be seen below. The documentary on the life of Lance Armstrong focuses on his recent career and the controversy over the US federal investigation into doping allegations. He made the confession to taking performance enhancing drugs in January 2013 and it is here the film will pick up. The film “presents a riveting, insider’s view of the unraveling of one of the most extraordinary stories in the history of sports. As Lance Armstrong himself says: “I didn’t live a lot of lies, but I lived one big one.””
Directed by Alex Gibney who originally signed on for the documentary in 2009, when the project centered around Lance Armstrong’s comeback to cycling. However when the scandal broke the project was shelved only getting picked back up in January after Armstrong’s confession, where the project was completely reworked to reflect the developments, it was was also rewritten by Alex Gibney.
The documentary has many well known faces who have shared Lance Armstrong’s limelight, and contains a lot of in depth discussions with Lance Armstrong himself about some of the most well publicized aspects of his life but this time from his own point of view.
The documentary will hit UK cinemas January 31st 2014, but in the mean time check out the trailer and TV spot below.
