Comic-Con: First Trailer For ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Makes An Appearance

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore in ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’, Part 1

The first trailer for part 1 of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has made its debut at Comic-Con this year.

The one minute trailer shows us Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, recruited by the rebel district 13 to fight the corrupt government, The Capitol.

Although Lionsgate held no official panel for The Hunger Games, they did debut the trailer on Friday, which was one of the highlights of Comic-Con 2014.

Based on the trilogy by Suzanne Collins, the third book has been split into two films, with part 1 due to be released in November 2014 and part 2 in November 2015.

Mockingjay is the first book not to feature a Hunger Games event, but instead focuses on the rebellion against the government.

Alongside Jennifer Lawrence, returning cast members appearing in Mockingjay part 1 includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Donald Sutherland.

Julianne Moore also appears as the leader of the rebellion, alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died shortly after finishing filming on Mockingjay part 1 and 2, making part 2 his final film.

Francis Lawrence, who directed the second film in the Hunger Games instalment, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay part 1 and 2, is currently in post-production, with filming of part 1 and 2 having wrapped up in June 2014.

Although we may have to wait a while for the official trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1, we have this first trailer to keep us occupied until then.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 will be released on 21st November 2014 in the UK and the US.
