Donna Tartt’s ‘The Goldfinch’ To Be Adapted By ‘Hunger Games’ Producers
Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch appears to be next on The Hunger Games producers list of adaptations.
Nina Jacobson and the production company Color Force are planning on adapting the book into either a feature film or a TV miniseries.
The author, Donna Tartt, is understood to have creative rights over the adaptation of her book, meaning she has a say on whether it should be a film or a TV series.
The Goldfinch follows Theodore Decker, whose mother dies in a terrorist attack on an art museum. Theodore survives the attack, and steals the painting The Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius, and attempts to solve the mystery around it as he grows up. Along the course of the novel, Theodore travels to many locations and meets a variety of characters.
Tartt’s first novel, The Secret History, has unsuccessfully gone through an adaptation process in the past, meaning this production could take a few years to take off.
Due to the many sequences that appear in the book, it could be preferred for The Goldfinch to be a TV series, and in 2013, it appears that ICM Partners who rep the author were advertising it to networks as a miniseries.
No details of any potential actors or directors have emerged yet.
