Lionsgate’s Summit has announced three new US release dates; one for next year and two for 2016.
The fifth film in the Step Up dance series, Step Up All In, is to be released in the US on 25th July 2014 in 3D. The film will include Step Up regulars Ryan Guzman and Briana Evigan.
2007s Step Up, the first film in the series, began the career of Channing Tatum as the criminal youth turned dancer. Scott Speer, the director of the fourth film Step Up Revolution, will not return to this installment, and instead directing duties are going to choreographer Trish Sie.
Paramount’s Hercules, staring Dwayne Johnson and directed by Brett Ratner, is due for release on the same date.
Gods of Egypt, starring Gerard Butler and Geoffrey Rush, is due to be released on 12th February 2016 in the US. Butler plays Set, the God of Darkness who has usurped Egypt’s throne, causing mortals and Gods to join forces and fight against his evil forces. Alex Proyas, director of 1994s The Crow will direct.
Young Adult novelist Veronica Roth will have her 3-part book series released by Summit. Set in a futuristic North America, society is divided into groups based on the traits the citizen’s value most. The film series will star Theo James and Shailene Woodley.
The first film in the series, Divergent, has a US release of 21st March 2014. It will be directed by Neil Burger, known for 2011’s Limitless. The second film, Insurgent, has a US release of 20th March 2015. It has already been reported that Burger will not direct the second film in the series. Allegiant, the third and final film has a US release of 18th March 2016. Summit is now searching for directors for films 2 and 3.
Currently, the only film with a UK release date is Divergent scheduled for release on 4th April 2014.
