Now after various teases and even a couple of other trailers hinting at the epic scope and science-fiction elements of the upcoming Bryan Singer directed X-Men film, Days of Future Past, a final trailer has been released that makes the story clearer and reveals some things kept in only brief glimpses before.

The story surrounds how Wolverine (Hugh Jackman for the seventh (!) time as Logan) is sent back in time fifty years to warn the X-Men of the First Class group – Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and even Magneto (Michael Fassbender), who is being held under guard – and to group them together to stop a menace that could destroy them all, as well as many others.  In other words, a Big Bad Threat, in this case in the form of giant robotic Sentinels that have been commissioned, the trailer has us to believe, by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage).

The trailer promises some major special effects, from the Sentinels to the destruction of Washington DC, but also the character dynamics between everyone (Wolverine and young Beast have a tense exchange, Xavier and Erik also).  Some questions may still be a bit unexplained for now – how does Xavier get up to punch his arch rival?  On the whole the movie looks to be what fans have loved about the series and why Singer is returning to his third time at the director’s chair – engaging characters, intense spectacle, and questions about the ‘other’ in society and how they can be integrated or threatened and their response.
