Two days ago the new images of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For were released, nearly a decade after the release of the original picture created by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. The sequel will be released this year, on August 29th in the UK. Watch the first official trailer below.
The film noir will feature familiar faces with Jessica Alba returning as Nancy Callahan along with Micky Rourke as Marv. Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins the cast as Johnny, “a cocky gambler who wins a game with the wrong opponent.” Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, Juno Temple and Clive Owen also star.
Once again the film is made up of monochrome segments with snippets of colour, continuing from parts of the first film. The plot this time focuses on Ava (Green) and Dwight McCartthy (Brolin) in a plight to escape Ava’s ex-husband. The part which features Gordon-Levitt, titled ‘The Long Bad Night‘ was written for the film and does not feature in Miller’s comics. According to the actor “They wanted to have a movie where fans of the books would still be able to look forward to something new and unexpected, so they added a story…. I remember being really intrigued by that and I was really looking forward to, ‘Oh that will be so interesting to have the actual comics to refer to as an actor’, but no, I didn’t.” He also mentioned how impressed he was by Lady Gaga’s characterisation in her cameo.
The film will be released a week earlier for US audiences on the 22nd of August but in the meantime take a look at the new released images. [wzslider]
