Disney’s ‘Frozen’ To Hit The Ice Later This Year

Frozen-3-jpgFans of Disney’s latest blockbuster Frozen will be delighted to hear that they will soon be able to see the films’ much beloved characters in an entirely new format.

That’s right, according to sources at Hollywood Reporter, Disney has decided to take their international success story to the ice, colloborating once again with Feld Entertainment to create a brand new Disney on Ice show.

The two time Oscar winning animation, which featured the incredibly talented voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana will be transformed into a magical ice show featuring a snowflake shaped stage and a spectacular blizzard created by 20 snow machines. Unfortunately the original cast will not play a part in the show, but we have been assured a whopping 39 superb cast members have been enlisted to take their places.

Some of you may be worrying that this spin-off will destroy the film in order to add to the $1.2 billion profit it has already accumulated, but you need not. According to the New York Times, John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios claims that Feld Entertainment‘s creative team are “creating the show with all of the heart, humor and beauty of ‘Frozen’ that audiences fell in love with”.

The adaptation is set to start it’s stateside tour this September, beginning in Orlando, Florida, which is great news for American fans. However, at this point, I am sad to say, there is no confirmed worldwide tour. We can only pray that the show is enough of a success on the other side of the pond that Disney bosses decided to bring it to our our shores also. And don’t worry, if a worldwide tour is confirmed, you will be the first to know.
