In addition to this film, Disney is also working on a live-action version of The Jungle Book. In 1967, Disney were hugely successful with their animated version of The Jungle Book, and being out of the public domain means any film studio can make a version of the book.
The Jungle Book is a collection of stories from author Rudyard Kipling, about an orphaned boy brought up by animals in the Indian jungle. Kipling spent many of his early years living in India, giving him inspiration for his writing.
The film will be produced by Jonathan Cavendish and screenwriter Steve Kloves, known for his work on the Harry Potter series. His daughter, Callie Kloves, will make her screenwriting debut with the film.
Jungle Book: Origins will be released in the US on 21st October 2016.
